With the corporate role also comes a responsibility to be a positive force in the world SweMaint operates in. We are therefore involved in a number of different initiatives aimed at supporting and contributing to a more sustainable and inclusive society. Such initiatives are particularly important in Gothenburg, as this is where we are based.
Gothenburg shares the sad fact that many families with children live in poverty in many other Swedish communities – we must change this. Continuing to collaborate and supporting Göteborgs Stadsmission in both its acute and long-term efforts to help families on the margins enjoy a better quality of life is as urgent as it is obvious to us at SweMaint. This is how we create change together. And as the season approaches, we hope to create more summer for more people.
Göteborgs Stadsmission, which was founded in 1952, is a non-profit organisation that promotes the equal value of all people, regardless of their life situation. It offers both emergency help and longer-term support for people living in homelessness, poverty and other vulnerabilities.
Open meeting places for adults, children and families, various types of counselling and concrete support in everyday life in the form of, for example, homework help, are some examples in addition to the purely acute in ensuring that vulnerable people get food and clothing. The organisation also offers accommodation and employment services, and second-hand activities are run in and around Gothenburg in several shops.
On the website stadsmissionen.org you will find in-depth information about Göteborgs Stadsmission. In our sustainability report at swemaint.com/en/sustainability we tell you more about climate improvement – in all respects.
