As the United Nations Children's Fund, UNICEF works in 190 countries with one goal: to make children's rights a reality for all children. The organisation receives no financial support from the UN and is funded exclusively by voluntary contributions from individuals, companies and governments. All money raised is distributed among the countries and areas that need it most. For the first time in a long time, we see a decline in the development of children in many countries and more children than ever before need help to survive.
In 2022, UNICEF Sweden raised SEK 1.2 billion. Of this, 91% goes directly to the organisation's efforts for children around the world, 8% is used for fundraising costs and 1% goes to administrative costs.
As in previous years, our Christmas donation and everyone's collective thoughts go to UNICEF and the fight for all children to have the childhood they are entitled to. Instead of earmarking a certain project, we at SweMaint leave it to UNICEF to decide where the money should be used.
